This year, our Día de Muertos celebration returns as part of Pokémon GO: Maxed Out season in Latin America! But beware: we’ve received reports that Team GO Rocket has been keeping a close eye on this celebration for the past few years and is planning to take over the festivities. Professor Willow may need your help to keep them in check!

Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and other parts of the Americas that honors the lives and memories of friends and family who have passed away. In ancient Aztec tradition, it was said that the spirits of our loved ones never truly left, but simply traveled to a different world and, during a special time each year, returned to our world. Since then, people who celebrate Day of the Dead have prepared for this occasion by setting tables with their ancestors’ favorite dishes, covering the streets with marigold petals, and lighting candles and incense to enjoy a joyful celebration full of colors, music, flowers, and flavors.
