Every Trainer can celebrate 10 years of Pokémon GO with a special Mewtwo!
The Perfect Mewtwo Timed Research will be available from August 12, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. PDT to September 6, 2026 at 11 pm local time.

As part of the 10th anniversary celebration, Trainers around the world will be able to enjoy free Timed Research leading to an encounter with a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats* and a Special Background.**

Mewtwo caught from this Timed Research will also have the third Mega Level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y.
*Trainers who caught a Mewtwo at the in-person Times Square event on July 9 will receive a Mewtwo with different stats and different rewards. For the Catch 10 Pokémon task, Times Square attendees receive 30 Mewtwo Candy instead of a Master Ball.
**Mewtwo with a Times Square background will be available again at some point in the future.

Complete the Timed Research to earn a Master Ball, Mega Mewtwo Energy Y, and an encounter with a Mewtwo with maxed-out stats and a Special Background. That Mewtwo will also have the third Mega Level unlocked for Mega Mewtwo Y.
