Patterns of the Wild brings a Special Background for Pikachu wearing a batik shirt, along with boosted wild encounters, Incense bonuses, and research rewards!

The event takes place on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Timed Research is available for a longer period, from September 28 through October 7.

Bonuses

Incense will last for two hours

Increased chance to encounter Pikachu wearing a batik shirt and other event-themed Pokémon while using Incense

Increased chance to encounter Shiny featured wild Pokémon

Features

Pikachu with a Special Background

Pikachu wearing a batik shirt can have a Special Background for the first time in Pokémon GO! Look for it in the wild, through Timed Research, and in surprise snapshot encounters. Shiny Pikachu wearing a batik shirt will also be available.

Surprise Encounters

Take a snapshot of one of your own Pokémon during the event for a chance at a surprise encounter with Pikachu wearing a batik shirt. Snapshots of wild Pokémon will not trigger these encounters.

Spawns

These Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, with an increased chance of encountering their Shiny variants. Pikachu wearing a batik shirt may have a Special Background.

Rewards include encounters with Pikachu wearing a batik shirt, Oddish, Hoppip, and Ledyba, along with XP, Stardust, items, and stickers.
