Patterns of the Wild brings a Special Background for Pikachu wearing a batik shirt, along with boosted wild encounters, Incense bonuses, and research rewards!
The event takes place on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time. Timed Research is available for a longer period, from September 28 through October 7.

Pikachu with a Special Background
Pikachu wearing a batik shirt can have a Special Background for the first time in Pokémon GO! Look for it in the wild, through Timed Research, and in surprise snapshot encounters. Shiny Pikachu wearing a batik shirt will also be available.

Surprise Encounters
Take a snapshot of one of your own Pokémon during the event for a chance at a surprise encounter with Pikachu wearing a batik shirt. Snapshots of wild Pokémon will not trigger these encounters.
Spawns 
These Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, with an increased chance of encountering their Shiny variants. Pikachu wearing a batik shirt may have a Special Background.

Timed Research will run from Monday, September 28, at 6:00 a.m. to Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
Rewards include an encounter with Pikachu wearing a batik shirt with a Special Background, encounters with Oddish, Ledyba, and Hoppip, 1,000 XP, 1,000 Stardust, and more. Each of these Pokémon can be Shiny.
