New Pokémon Backgrounds Debut!

After catching certain Pokémon from Raid Battles during the Road of Legends and through Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, Trainers will have a chance to receive Special Backgrounds! These souvenir backgrounds will appear on a Pokémon’s summary page, similar to the Location Backgrounds that are available exclusively at in-person events.

Pokémon caught from five-star raids, Primal Raids, and Mega Raid Battles between July 6 and July 12 may also have a Special Background.

Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids during GO Fest: Global may have a Special Background. If that Mewtwo with a Special Background is Mega Evolved, its Mega Evolution’s background will have an additional visual effect.

Super Mega Raids During Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global

Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y will be featured in Super Mega Raids during Pokémon GO Fest: Global!

Every Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids will have at least one Mega Level already unlocked, and it can be Mega Evolved without the initial energy cost! Mewtwo caught from Super Mega Raids will also be more likely to have high Attack, Defense, and HP.

GO Pass: Road of Legends

From Monday, July 6, at 12:01 a.m. to Sunday, July 12, at 11:59 p.m. local time, the GO Pass and the GO Pass Deluxe for Road of Legends will be available in Pokémon GO!

Raids

Legendary Pokémon, Ultra Beasts, and other powerful Pokémon will appear in raids throughout the event. Pokémon appearing in five-star raids each day will also be featured in a Raid Hour from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time on that day. On Monday, Raid Hour will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Pokémon appearing in Mega Raids each day will also be featured in a Mega Raid Hour from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. local time on that day. On Friday, there will be a Primal Raid Hour from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
