What's your Favorite Special Research
Trainers can now unlock free Special Research using Pokémon GO’s new Snapshot feature! This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step to help you claim your Free Special Research rewards of 10k Stardust, 5 Rare Candy, and a Lucky Egg.
Open the Snapshot page
Open up the main menu by tapping the center Poké Ball and visit the snapshot page circled.
Tap on the “What’s your Favorite” promo
Tap on the “What’s your Favorite” logo. Make sure to tap the logo and not just the banner.
Choose a Pokémon
Pick your favorite Pokémon and snap a photo. Almost every Pokémon in Pokémon GO is available along with some unreleased species like Mimikyu. You need to snap a photo with the floor visible. You don’t have to snap one with a person but you can! There is no AR used in this snapshot so you don’t have to scan the floor.
Restart Pokémon GO
Finally, restart Pokémon GO and check your Special tab. You’ll see a new Special Research where you can claim your rewards. Note that this is NOT Timed Research so there’s no time limit to when you can claim them.
Completing Your Special Research
Once you’ve completed all the steps, you’ll have access to the free Special Research. You can claim your rewards of 10k Stardust, 5 Rare Candy, and a Lucky Egg at your own pace since this is Special Research, not Timed Research.
Tips and Reminders
- Make sure to tap the “What’s your Favorite” logo specifically, not just the banner
- You need to snap a photo with the floor visible, but no AR scanning is required
- Almost every Pokémon in Pokémon GO is available, including some unreleased species like Mimikyu
- This is Special Research, not Timed Research, so there’s no time limit to claim your rewards
